A loan of $675 helped build a chicken coop.

María Carmelina's story

Sra. María P. is a member of the San Pablo Communal Bank. She lives in the community of Rumiloma which is in the parish of Turi. This parish is also known as the “balcony” of the city.

Doña María is 56 years old, married, and has seven children. Six of her children are married, but four of them live independently. The other two married children live at home and share the expenses. Her child who is single works and also helps with the household finances. Her husband is a mason and was responsible for building their house.

Sra. María devotes herself to the household chores and raising chickens that she sells in her community. She also does laundry for other people.

María has been with the Communal Bank for three years. The money from her loan will be invested in the construction of a coop for her chickens. Her goal is to have a larger poultry farm.
