A loan of $725 helped to buy sacks of manure and fertilizer.

Alejandra's story

Alejandra Q., 30, is from San Miguel district. She’s married to Demetrio, 35, and they have four children. They live in their own house in the community of Palmapampa, Samugari district.

Alejandra is a farmer. Her parents taught her this occupation when she was a little girl. Since then she’s worked in this occupation for about 10 years. She farms cocoa beans, coffee, coca leaf and banana. Her crops are harvested thanks to laborers she hires during harvest time. She sells the cocoa beans and the coffee in the city of San Francisco because that’s where the best prices are offered for her quality grains

What she likes most about her work is harvesting because that’s when she feels the months of hard work are rewarded by the quality of her fruits. She considers the most difficult part transporting the products from the harvest to the drying spot. In the future she’d like to buy new farmland to increase production.

This is her 11th loan with MFP. She feels this support will be very helpful for her business’s progress. She is very well liked in her communal bank by her fellow members because her work is very mutually supportive of them.

She will use the requested 2000 new soles to buy more fertilizer and manure to improve the quality of her fields.
