A loan of $1,100 helped purchase perfumes, crèmes, and cosmetics.

Katty Cecibel's story

In the neighborhood of Santa Clara in the city of Manta, there are beautiful beaches that are visited year round by foreign and domestic tourists. Manta is one of the most important ports of the country and in the Americas. It is located along the Pacific. This is where the Communal Bank “Mujeres Activas” (Active Women) meet every fifteen days.

This is Sra. Katty. She is 22 years old, married, and has two children (a two year old and another who was born 19 days ago). Her husband is a taxi driver.

Katty works at a tollbooth on the road between Manta and Portoviejo. She also sells Yanbal products (a line of beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and accessories for women). Katty works every day in her spare time. She offers her products on credit and collects payments weekly or every two weeks according to the needs of her customers. The products are shipped to her home. Katty says that she has been in this business for four years. Despite the competition, she is doing well and her customers prefer to buy from her.

This loan will be used to buy perfumes, crèmes, and cosmetics. Katty is in her second loan cycle with the Communal Bank and enjoys the fact that the loans have been easy to access. Her dreams include having her own house since she currently lives in the home of her in-laws.
