Felicitas's story

Felicitas is 30 years old. She was born in the San Miguel district. She lives with her husband, Cirilo, who is 33, and they have five children. They live in their own house in the community of Palmapampa, which is an annex of the Samugari district. Felicitas and her husband Cirilo are the support of their family. From the time when Felicitas was a very young girl, her parents taught her to work on the farm. Now she is a farmer and has three hectares of land planted with achiote, cacao, coca leaves, and peanuts, which are plants that are native to the forest zone of the Apurimac River valley. She has been working her own land for 12 years, and the part she likes most is the harvest. During this time she needs the help of others, and she needs to hire day workers to make progress with the harvesting of her crops. At the end, she feels that the months of hard work have offered her repayment in the quality of her products. She finds that the most difficult part is transporting her products from the fields to the city of San Francisco, the place where they offer her better prices for her crops and coca leaves. In the future she wants to buy new land to increase her cultivation.

This is her 11th loan with MFP, and she knows that if she pays it on time, she will be able to access another loan with great ease and without bringing complications to her community bank. With the 3000 PEN that she is applying for, she will buy fertilizers and insecticides to improve her plantings and thus obtain good crops.
