Maria Leticia's story

Leticia was born in the city of Ocongate, Quispicanchis Province, Cusco Department. She belongs to “Las Margarita Ocongate” (The Ocongate Daisies) communal bank. Leticia currently lives in her hometown with her husband and their three children. (Ocongate is about two hours away from the city of Cusco.) 19 years ago, Leticia opened a restaurant and named it “Kutimuy” (a Quechua word meaning "Come back"). Leticia makes breakfast, lunch and dinner for about 80 customers. The restaurant is equipped with chairs and tables and many basic items. Leticia works 7 days a week from 7 in the morning until 9 at night. Leticia needs the loan to buy more supplies such as sugar, rice, noodles and oil. She has been a member of the communal bank for four years now, and she is doing very well thanks to the her companions' reliability and to their punctuality in making their payments. She is very grateful for the opportunity given her through this medium, and she promises to make her payments on time.
