A loan of $375 helped buy firewood and sawdust.

Rosa Del Carmen's story

Señora Rosa is a member of the community bank "Virgen D. la Puerta" in the district of Calleria in the department of Ucayali. She is 56 years old. She is married and has 7 children.

Señora Rosa sets an example as a woman: in spite of her age, she has a great desire to continue working, and she enjoys it. She is always attending to everything and is very close to her workers.

Rosa makes charcoal, which is heavy work for a woman, but that doesn't stop her.

With this loan of 1,000 PEN, she will buy sawdust to cover the firewood and burn it, and two truckloads of firewood that she needs to make her charcoal. Each one costs 400 PEN, and the rest she will invest in other things that she needs for her business.

Señora Rosa is happy with her work, she tells us, and very satisfied with all that she has achieved through her efforts. She says that she still needs more. She has been working with the loans from Manuela Ramos for only two years.

Rosa wants to continue working to help her son who is at the university,
