A loan of $1,100 helped to buy seeds, fertilizers, and sprays.

Soria Elizabeth's story

In the parish of Quiroga, of the city of Calceta, where people mostly make a living in agriculture, raising animals, and selling their products, the communal bank Quiroga meets every two weeks.

Mrs. Soria is 37 years old and lives with her partner with whom she has four children, two who are adults and studying at the university and two who are younger and in high school. Her husband is a farmer.

Her and her husband raise pigs and cattle and also cultivate winter products like corn and peanuts since the land they cultivate is hilly and mountainous. Her husband works from 4 am milking livestock and continues until 3:00 and his children help him with other things on the land. While they are working in the fields, Mrs. Soria sells the milk they get each day and takes care of the animals, mostly the ones closest to the house like the pigs and birds.

This loan will be used to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and sprays to get a good harvest. This is her fifth period with the communal bank and she likes the ease of the loans. Her dreams are for her children to be professionals.
