Henry M. G. is the producer of the best cheese in Canalete de Alajuela. He has been in the cattle farming business for more than 10 years. It has always gone very well for him, but he assures that he wants to get to a higher level and purchase three more cows.

This is why he needs a loan for 598,000 Costa Rican Colones (CRC). This investment will allow him to increase and improve his production. In addition, he hopes to be able to sell the babies from his cows at a good price at the auction in his canton.

He is a member of the Canalete Communal Loan Company (Empresa de Crédito Comunal Canalete), one of the 100 member organizations within EDESA in Costa Rica.

More information about this loan

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
