Sop Mame Cheikh Group's story

The group called Sop Mame Cheikh was created on the 14th of December, 2008. It is comprised of 11 women who all come from the same neighborhood. These women know each other through family and as friends. The group works with the Banc Villageois of Keur Serigne Louga Est.

Mrs. Sado F., who is on the far right of the photo above and is wearing the mauve gown, is the head of the group. She is 56 years old. She is married and the mother of five children.

Her husband is the owner of a shop selling car parts, materials, generators, a small selection of second-hand engines and refrigerator motors. Loans from MF-Caurie (a microfinance institution) enable him to purchase goods for resale.

The profits from the business contribute to the family's welfare, to paying for their children's school fees and providing health care for the family.

Her goal is to help her husband improve the store's merchandise.

In this group: Sado, Die, Couna, Safietou, Yatta, Ngone, Aminata, Aminata, Mbayang, Aida, Dieumba
