Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Michael Wacira's story

Since 2004, Michael has been running a clinical laboratory in Nairobi town centre. He earns a profit of 25,500 Kenyan shillings (KES) per month. He is 36 years old, married to Gilian Wambui and they have two children. He describes himself as hardworking.

Michael was introduced to KADET by an old member, and he is applying for a second loan of 50,000 KES. He plans to use the entire amount to buy one microscope which will help him serve his customers well. He plans to plough the anticipated profit back into the business. In the future he hopes to open a hospital.
