A loan of $1,875 helped a member to buy ingredients for her taco stall.

Las Vecinas Group's story

'Las Vecinas' (The Neighbors) is a Credituyo community bank which has seven female members and is entering its first loan cycle. The women gave the group this name because they all live in the same neighborhood, very close to each other.

Martha is one of the group's members. She lives with her husband and two children in Nuevo Escobedo neighborhood. She has a 13 year-old daughter and a 4 year-old son. Martha has a taco stall where she works together with her husband in order to support her family. The tacos are called “Los Sureños”. She started selling 8 years ago in a location near her home. She sells roasted meat and pork tacos, quesadillas with meat and burgers.

Martha requested this loan to invest in her business so that she could continue selling her products and keep her customers happy. She would like to use her profits to continue supporting her daughter's education. Her daughter is currently in high school and she tells us that she is top of her class.
