Denkisse Group's story

The nine members of the group named Denkisse (8 are married and 1 is a widow) have an average age of 26 and they each have 2 children. The majority of them live in monogamous families in Sanoubougou I, one of the quarters in the city of Sikasso (third administrative region in Mali). They are on their second loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso (Kiva Field Partner). Their goal is to satisfy client demand. The previous loans were all successfully repaid. This group of women is involved in the sale of kitchenware through Mariam S.. Mariam S. plans on investing her loan on the purchase of 5 dozen cups. She makes her purchases at the large market in Sikasso and Bamako. The cups are resold in the market in Sanoubougou and Sikasso to family and to a clientele made of men and women. She completes her sales in cash. She expects to earn a monthly income of 45.000 FCFA which will be used for her family's daily expenses.
