Champion Group's story

The five members of the group name Champion are all married and they have an average age of 37. They are 4 children each and the majority lives in monogamous families in Sanoubougou I, one of the quarters in the city of Sikasso (third administrative region of Mali). They are on their third group loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso (Kiva Field Partner) and their goal is to satisfy client demand. Their past loans have all successfully been repaid. This group of women sells condiments through Kadiatou T.. Kadiatou T. plans on investing her loan in the purchase of 5 baskets of tomatoes and 4 packages of Maggi cubes. She makes her purchases in the large market in Sikasso. The condiments are resold in the market in Sanoubougou I in Sikasso, to family and to a clientele made of men and women. She completes her sales in cash. She expects to earn a monthly income of 70.000 FCFA which will be used to cover her family’s daily expenses.
