A loan of $1,100 helped to buy construction equipment (a mixing machine).

Hernan's story

Mr. Hernan V. S. is 28 years old and has three small children (two very young twins and a daughter who attends the local school). Mr. Hernan and his family live in the Vilomilla zone in the locality of Sipe-Sipe, which is 22 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba. It is a very agricultural area.

Mr. Hernan works building houses and his wife is in charge of their dairy cows. Both activities generate income that has helped them to sustain their family up to this point. They only have three dairy cows, which produce 15 liters of milk each day. They sell the milk in their local area. Hernan's wife can't do a lot because their twins are only a couple months old so she shouldn't leave them alone.

Mr. Hernan has a lot of demand from his customers for house construction and renovation, but he does not have all the equipment necessary to work most effectively. He rents a mixing machine, which has been very costly, and therefore he hasn't been able to save much. He realized it is necessary to request a loan so he can obtain his own mixing machine. This way, he will able to be save money for his family over time. Mr. Hernan hopes to offer his children a better future and, with time, to improve his family's living conditions.
