A loan of $400 helped to buy a plot of farmland to expand the farming business.


Ly's story

Ly U., 51, is married and resides with her child in Kampong Chnang province, Cambodia, an area known for palm products.

U. sells Cambodian noodles and grows rice, earning an income of US $6 per day. Her child is employed at the factory, earning an income of US $3 per day to help cover the family expenses.

Each month, the family has to spend US $40 on food and $10 on the other necessary expenses. U. is requesting a loan of US $400 to purchase a plot of farmland to expand the farming business.

In the future, she would like to use the additional income to repair her house. This will be her first loan from CREDIT, a long standing Kiva partner.
