A loan of $775 helped purchase women's clothing such as pants, blouses, lingerie, etc.

Flor Katherine's story

The members of the San Jorge Village Bank meet every 15 days in the San Jorge neighborhood of Portoviejo, a beautiful city surrounded by green mountains and amazing vistas.

Here we met Señora Flor, who is 34 years old. She is married and she and her husband have two children, 17 and 19 years old, who are still in school. Her husband works with metal and glass, building and repairing windows and doors.

She sells all kinds of clothing door-to-door, and also has a small shop in her house. She tells us her customers order things from her. She works every day, but she doesn't have a set schedule so she can work whenever she's needed. She sells to her customers on credit and they make payments every 15 days. She gets her merchandise from abroad, and she buys it, too, when she needs it.

She will use this loan to buy clothing, especially women's clothing such as pants, blouses, lingerie, etc. She's been a member of the village bank for two loan cycles, and she likes it because she receives the loans quickly and without as much hassle. Her dream is to have her own home, since she is renting at the moment.
