A loan of $725 helped to buy magazines to sell at her newsstand.

Marlene's story

Marlene, 31, is a single young woman. She lives in an inherited house with her two brothers. The younger one is single, and the older one has a wife and kids. From the time she was young, Marlene accompanied her mother, helping her sell newspapers at her newsstand, which was located an hour from their house. A year ago, when her mother passed away, Marlene had to take on the business and keep it going. Since then she works every day from 4 in the morning, picking up the papers to sell starting at 6. Marlene likes her work, since she's always making sales. In addition, she leaves her regular customers magazines and periodicals on credit, so they try to be on time with their payments at the end of every month.

In light of her situation, Marlene wants to expand her business with a wider variety of magazines because her greatest dream is to open a grocery store in her house. This will be her 12th loan with MFP, and she knows the support will really help her keep the business growing, so she is committed to making her payments on time. Once she gets her loan, she will buy car-collector and handicrafts magazines, because those reap the biggest profits.
