A loan of $500 helped to buy women's and children's shoes, and bedspreads, to stock her business.

Sandra's story

Sandra M. O. lives in Huitzililla, in Ciudad Ayala, in the State of Morelos, Mexico. She is 27 years old and studied up to the third year of high school. She has her diploma.

Sandra is married and has one son called Miguel Ángel who is 3 years old. She sells shoes and bedspreads through a catalog. Sandra has requested her loan to buy shoes and bedspreads in order to fill her orders. She offers her customers women's, men's and children's shoes, and bedspreads, through a catalog. Her customers are girls who buy shoes and ladies who buy bedspreads.

Sandra started her business three years ago in Cuautla. When she moved, they offered for her to make catalog sales. She was enthusiastic and ordered her catalogs in order to start making sales. Sandra goes from house to house offering her products for sale. Her husband gave her the money to start her business. Her husband was working in the US but he has since come home and is working in the countryside.

Sandra's business is important because she has been making a profit in it. She likes it when she visits her customers and they buy her products. She is proud because, thanks to God, she has money. The challenges that she faces in her business are high costs and competition. There are many other women and girls who make catalog sales.

Sandra uses the profits that she makes in her business to buy more shoes and bedspreads and to cover her expenses. Sandra lives with her parents. Her business has helped her family. Sandra does her work for her household, to cover household expenses. She would like to make some improvements to her home, buying windows and glass. Her plans and hopes are to improve her business and to continue living in her home with her parents. She is very happy to be receiving this loan. Her wish for her son's future is for him to study. This loan will help her to continue working and to continue selling so that he doesn't want for anything.

Huitzililla is a very quiet village. It is close to the countryside where people grow beans, corn, onions and green beans. Sandra would like to say to Kiva and to Fundación Realidad "Thank you for the loan. I will not let you down. I will continue to pay back my loans so that you will lend me more in the future".
