A loan of $700 helped a member to buy another buffalo for a dairy business.

Hameeda's Group's story

Hameeda lives in Jaranwala, which is a small city of Punjab, Pakistan, known for its agricultural industry. She has been living in a two-room brick house in Jaranwala with her family for more than 20 years. Hameeda is a housewife, preferring to stay at home and do household work. She has given birth to four daughters and two sons. Her eldest son has a welding business while the other stays at home. Her husband, M. A., operates a dairy business from home. He has a buffalo whose milk he sells to the community to earn an income. He has been in this business for the past five years. He has a good number of clients in his community, who buy milk from him due to its freshness and good quality. Hameeda has applied for a loan from Kiva's partner, Asasah, for her husband’s dairy business. With this loan, he will buy another buffalo which will increase his production of milk and increase his sales. She is a regular client of Asasah and this is her second loan application. In her previous loan year, she paid her installments on time and never missed a single meeting. In the photo, the lady with a book (an Asasah passbook) is Hameeda.
