Oyotún - Chiclayo, Peru / Agriculture

A loan of $550 helped to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her corn fields.

Aita's story

Aita is a 58 year-old mother who lives with her husband and children in the hamlet of La Compuerta, an agricultural zone in the district of Oyotún. It is an area with uneven, hilly land, located two hours from the city of Chiclayo.

She and her husband both work in agriculture. They own a plot of farmland together, where they plant grains and cereals. Aita also has a group of young animals that she raises in pens at her house. She feeds them natural grains and grasses, and once they have fully developed, she sells them to merchants who pass through the zone where they live.

Aita would like to buy pesticides and fertilizers to care for the corn fields that they currently have planted. She hopes this will ensure a good harvest. She would also like to acquire a balanced diet for her animals. In order to achieve her goals, she decided to request a loan of 1,800 nuevos soles from Edpyme Alternativa.
