A loan of $300 helped to cover her mother's operation expenses.

Maria's story

52 year-old María is separated from her husband and lives in her own home with her two grown-up children. María owned a store for many years and her business helped her to support her family but, owing to her marriage problems, she had to take sole responsibility for her children's higher education expenses. For this reason, her business could not sustain itself and failed. Currently, María works in other peoples' homes, carrying out domestic tasks during the day. However, as this is not enough to support her family, she has taken on an additional business, selling beauty products. María has taken the opportunity to sell her most popular cosmetics to her friends and family members. She uses the profits from this business to cover the expenses of her children's education and to buy medication for her elderly mother. In the future, María plans to stop working as a domestic employee and to re-open her store. In this way, she hopes to stabilize her finances. This is María's 11th loan with MFP and she pledges to make her repayments on time since she would like to have access to loans in the future, to help her to re-start her previous business. María will use this loan to cover the expenses of an operation for her mother.
