A loan of $600 helped to buy soaps and hair oil for reselling.

Zubaida's story

Zubaida belongs to a small city of Punjab, Pakistan, called Kasur, which is famous for its leather industry. She has been living there with her family in a two-room brick house for the past ten years. She is 37 years old, married to S. A. and has six children. Only three of them are able to attend school; the others are free to stay at home.

Her husband operates a soaps and hair oil selling business. He has a shop in the market where he sells his products and earns income for the family. He started this business ten years ago, and he has obtained a good reputation among his customers for his quality products and good conduct. He supplies soaps and hair oil to other shops as well.

Zubaida operates a business of selling shawls. She sells shawls to her neighboring clients by receiving orders from them. Her business grows during the winter season.

She has applied for a loan from the Kiva partner, Asasah, for her husband’s business. With the loan, he will buy soaps and hair oil in larger quantities to sell through his shop. Zubaida is hopeful that an investment will put a positive impact on her husband’s income and also expand his business. She is a regular loan user of Asasah and this is her 4th loan application. In previous loan years, she has maintained good credit behavior and never missed any meeting.
