Cleotilde's story

Cleotilde is a 51-year old woman who lives together with her family in the community that makes up the agricultural district of Tambogrande. It is a semitropical region primarily known for fruit production such as mangoes and lemons. It belongs to the region of Piura and it is located more than four hours from the city of Chiclayo. She sells beer, chicha drink (a drink prepared from a jora flour base) and prepared foods from a space in her house remodeled for her business. She runs her business on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays because in her community friends come together, especially because the population of her community is very close. This business is her primary source of income which is why she tries to manage it in the best way possible. Cleotilde wishes to increase her inventory for resale, and to purchase ingredients to prepare more foods in order to increase her sales and her earnings. In order to reach her objective she approached Edpyme Alternativa (Kiva Field Partner) for a loan of 1500 nuevos soles.
