A loan of $200 helped purchase ice cream and boxes of beer.

Maria's story

Maria is 49 years old and lives in her own home with her husband Jose who is 55 years old and their young daughter. Together they work hard every day to get ahead. A year ago, this enterprising woman set up a shop in her home selling a well known ice cream. She sells all day with the help of her young daughter. On the weekends she also sells beer and she takes orders and delivers to her customer's homes. With this business she regularly obtains profits and is able to help her husband with the household expenses to provide her family a good quality of life. She enjoys working because it is entertaining and because she does not neglect her household work. She has many plans for the future such as expanding her business to increase her profits so she can get ahead. This is the first loan she has obtained from field partner MFP and she promises to make her payments on time because she does not want to look bad with the people that made this contribution, which will allow her to continue working in search of progress, possible. Maria plans on investing this loan in purchasing ice cream and several boxes of beer since she needs to stock her store for the summer as these products sell a lot.
