A loan of $825 helped to buy another buffalo.

Naseem's story

Naseem M. A. is 45 years old, married to M. A., and has given birth to three children. They all left school and started to work in their teenage years to help financially support the family. The family lives in Kasur, which is a small city within Punjab, Pakistan. It is famous for its leather industry.

Milk sales have become the family's business since most of the members are involved in it. Naseem’s husband has some buffaloes at home that he milks early in the morning and then sells the milk to his neighboring clients. He has run his dairy for the past twenty years. Naseem’s eldest son sells buffalo milk, her middle child works in the fields and grows different crops, while her youngest son also sells milk.

Naseem works at home doing embroidery and stitchery work. She receives orders from her neighboring clients and is paid after completing the orders.

Naseem has applied for a loan from Kiva’s partner Asasah to further expand her husband’s milk business. She is a regular borrower from Asasah; this is her fifth loan application. In previous loan years, she has maintained good credit and never missed any meetings.

With the loan, Naseem will buy another buffalo to increase their dairy’s output of milk and to serve many more clients. She is hopeful that such an investment will improve her family’s business to a great extent.
