A loan of $550 helped buy sacks of compost.

Elsa's story

Elsa is a hardworking, 39 year old woman, who along with husband Bernabé, takes care of her daughter Anali, who they love very much and educate en their own home, which is located in Pueblo Pardo (in the central Peruvian forest). Every afternoon in the summer, Elsa's business gets a great reception, since the delicious ice creams, drinks and shaved ices refresh the city's population. She mentions that in the summer season her income is very good, so much that she stops working on the farm, another one of her activities.

For 15 years, the 2 hectares of farmland that she has have been dedicated to a variety of fruits such as starfruit, mandarin oranges and mangoes. After fertilizing them, caring for them, and pruning them, she sells them in the central market of the city. In order for her business to be successful, she plans to invest in improving her house in the city of La Merced, in order to be able to open a soda fountain.

She belongs to the village bank "Los Caramboleros" and this is the sitch loan with MFP, where she is a responsible member and committed to the development of the bank. Soon, Elsa's orange trees will bear fruit, so she wants to invest the money from the loan in the purchase of some sacks of organic compost, which she will spread over her plantations to get good fruit.
