Samuel's story

Samuel, 28, is single. He is independent of his parents and now lives in the city of La Merced (in central Peru). He loves and honors his parents, Teodoro and Mardonia, very much and often sees them when he visits their home in Pueblo Pardo. He helps his parents with their farming business. They've operated the farm for 7 years, growing a variety of fruits: oranges, star fruit and mangoes. They then sell the produce at the market in La Merced. Samuel also works as a driver, ferrying passengers on the route between La Merced and San Ramon. He makes at least 30 new soles every day. In the future, he wants to improve his crop and, in turn, his income. He belongs to the Los Caramboleros community bank and this is his first MFP loan. He has promised to be responsible and to help advance the association's work. Samuel is growng mango and star fruit. He will use this loan to buy 5 bags of organic manure that he will spread on his crop to improve his yields.
