Just Try Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Just Try” group. They are small businesswomen based in Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. This is the first loan these entrepreneurs are accessing from SMT/Kiva lenders. With this loan, they will be able to expand their businesses, make more profit and consequently improve their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Musu Tailor, who is pictured in the back row on the left. Musu is thirty-two-years old. She was born in Solima, in southern Sierra Leone. Musu is currently residing in Makeni with her husband and three children.

For fifteen years, Musu has been selling palm oil, rice, cigarette, matches, mints, biscuits, etc. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above mentioned items at wholesale to add to her inventory.
