A loan of $750 helped a member to buy thread for making bed-sheets to sell.

Irshaad's Group's story

Irshaad belongs to Gujranwala which is a mid-sized city in Pakistan and known for its rice industry. She lives there in the area named Kalar abadi with her family in a 2 room brick house. She moved here 8 years ago. Irshaad is a housewife who prefers to stay at home and do her household responsibilities. She has given birth to 5 children: four are working while the last one, a daughter, stays at home and helps her mother in the daily household works. Irshaad's first two sons have a business of making & selling bed-sheets. The next son operates a grocery store and the youngest son works in a factory on low income.

Irshaad is married to M. A., a daily wage labor. She has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her sons’ business. With the loan, they will buy thread in bulk to make more bed-sheets to sell. The increase in number of bed-sheets enables them to sell to more customers and to make more income.

She is hopeful that an investment will take her sons’ business to a more profitable position. Irshaad is a new loan applicant of Asasah.
