A loan of $375 helped to pay laborers to help her with her crops.

Maria's story

María is 51 years old. She is married to Víctor and they have four children together. They live in their own home.

When she was very young, María realized that coca was very popular in her valley and, with this in mind, she decided to work on her parents' farm. She liked living in the countryside since it is full of peace and harmony.

María currently produces and sells coca leaf to buyers. At harvest time, she needs the help of laborers to harvest her leaves quickly and in a timely manner. What María most likes about her work is caring for her crops and she does this with a lot of care. She has been in this business for 25 years and she considers the most difficult part of her work to be transporting her products to market since the sacks are very heavy and they make her very tired. In the future, María would like to gather together enough money to buy more land so that she can increase her coca plantations.

This is María's first loan with MFP. She pledges to make her repayments on time since she doesn't want to let down the people who have made this money possible as it will allow her to continue making progress. María plans to invest the money she has requested in paying laborers to help her with her upcoming harvest.
