A loan of $1,000 helped buy supplies for farming business.

Oswaldo's story

Oswaldo G. B., 54, lives with his wife in Ventanas, a sub-region of the Ecuadorean province of Los Rios. He has 3 children.

The TIERRA NUESTRA community bank is located in San Luis de Zapotal, a town in Ventanas. The bank has 14 members, all of whom operate farming businesses, growing maize and rice among other crops.

Oswaldo grows maize, cacao, soybeans and rice. He buys the supplies that he needs from Ecua-Agro and sells his crops there, too.

Oswaldo is applying for a loan to buy supplies for his next crop: maize and rice seeds, for example. The loan can help him buy the supplies he needs. The challenges that he faces include insects, plant disease and weather. He wants to plant cacao.

Oswaldo likes chatting with his friends.
