Elmer's story

Elmer is 30 years old. He is a very kind and hard-working man who lives in his own home together with his wife Luz (40) and hios two small children for whom he would like to provide a better education.

Elmer grows coffee and bananas. Every morning he starts work on his crops since he knows that the money he makes for his produce depends a lot on the quality of his harvest. He sells his products in Pichanaki market since that is where people pay him the most and he has regular buyers. What he most likes about his work is harvesting his crops since that is when he feels that the months of work have borne fruit. He has been in this business for 10 years and he considers the most difficult part of his work to be spraying his land since he knows that there is a danger that the chemicals will make him ill. In the future, he is planning to improve his crops to improve his profits.

This is Elmer's second loan with MFP and he says that the loan money will help him a lot in making progress in his work. He is a very well-liked member of his community bank because he is very supportive of the other members. Elmer plans to invest the 2,000 Peruvian soles he has requested in buying insecticides since he would like to have his land free from pests and he hopes to improve his crops.
