Daouda's story

Mr. Daouda C. is a 24 year old married man without children who lives in a monogamous family in the Eastern District in Kolondièba prefecture (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). He has a business selling various articles, buying and selling clothing, shoes, fabric etc. To increase his capital and satisfy his customers, he decided to join Soro Yiriwaso's loan program. He is on his second loan, having paid the first loan on the dates due. His shop located at Kolondièba market draws many customers. With this loan, he intends to buy 40 ready-to-wear outfits, 30 Dutch wax pagnes (a colorful West African cloth) and 100 pairs of shoes made of plastic or leather. He gets his supplies in Bamako (capital of the Republic of Mali). His sales are in cash and often by credit to a clientele composed of men and women. He expects to make a monthly profit of 50,000 CFA. which will be reinvested in health care, food and clothing.
