A loan of $3,325 helped a member to stock her grocery store and to recharge her two cell phones.

Tambopata De Tipon Group's story

Lourdes, 31, is a member of the “TAMBOPATA DE TIPON” communal bank which is located in Tipon district, Cusco province and department.

She has a live-in partner and a son. She runs a small grocery store and provides telephone services to various destinations in the country for cell phones and local fixed line phones. She prefers cell phone calls. She recharges her cell phones with various amounts and leases them out for 0.50 céntimos a minute. She has been running the grocery store since 2000 and making cell phone calls for the last two years.

She is asking for a loan to stock the grocery store and to recharge her two cell phones.

In the photo, Lourdes and Pio are shown at their respective businesses. Because they left the group meeting early, they had their photos taken separately at their businesses later on. They had permission to leave the group early, before the meeting had ended. Lourdes has an ophthalmological problem, so she was a little embarrassed to look at the camera.

The other group members are taxi drivers, farmers and cattlemen; some raise small farm animals, especially guinea pigs, to sell and some are grocers.

She values the loan and commits to repay in a timely fashion.
