Senkata Group's story

The 'Plan 3000' community bank is a group of 10 women who decided to create their community bank in order to access loans, training and health services. The 'Plan 3000' community bank is part of the Senkata regional office. They members are starting their first loan cycle. Each of the group's members has her own business. These include: knitting sweaters, running a neighborhood store, sewing bags, selling meals, selling pre-paid phone cards, selling soap, detergent powder, etc., selling pitas and selling auto spare parts. The 'Plan 3000' community bank is run by a board of directors which includes a president (Nadir), a treasurer (Teodora) and a secretary (Silvia). The group's president, Nadir, is a young woman of 25 who lives with her husband and child. Her business is serving in her neighborhood store and also selling toys. She set up her neighborhood store on her own initiative two years ago. She sells toys in Uyustus market and learned that business from her sister. She makes her sales all day Saturday and Sunday. Nadir is requesting a loan for 1,000 bolivianos to buy toys. As a new client of Pro Mujer, when we asked Nadir what she liked about the institution she replied "the medical services and savings".
