Saben Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Saben” group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are petty-businesswomen who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva in order to seek for a loan of SLL 500,000 for each in the group. With this loan, they will be able to add more goods to their businesses, attract more customers, make more sales and profit and consequently improve on their living conditions.

The leader of this group of entrepreneurs is Isatu K.. Isatu was born in Makeni, thirty-seven years ago. She is married and has three children. Her husband is a carpenter and two of her children are attending primary school. Isatu has been selling clothes for twenty years now. With her share of this loan, she will buy clothes in large quantity to add to her business.
