A loan of $550 helped to prepare his land, applying some nutrients.

Jose Carlos's story

José Carlos is a 46 year-old father who lives together with his wife and two children in Las Adelinas sector of Cayaltí district, an agricultural district with considerable commercial activity which is located one hour from the city of Chiclayo. José Carlos has worked in agriculture for more than ten years. He owns a plot of farmland where he grows a number of crops including rice and corn. Owing to the abundance of irrigation water in the area, these crops are usually planted up to twice a year, unlike in other areas of the region where they are sown only once. This cereal is widely consumed in the country which means that its cultivation is quite important for feeding Peruvian families. José Carlos depends on this business to cover his family's expenses which is why he always works his hardest in order to succeed in his production. He would currently like to sow his corn crop and would therefore like to prepare his land, applying some nutrients. In order to achieve his goal, he is requesting a loan for 1,500 Peruvian soles through Edpyme Alternativa and their 'Seed Capital' product. José Carlos will be able to use this loan to get ahead with his rice crop and thereby support his family. For this reason, he is grateful to those who are working with him through Kiva.
