A loan of $550 helped to buy shrimp, fish, oysters, octopus, prawns, etc.

María Gabriela's story

The 11 de Septiembre communal bank meets every two weeks in the city of Charapoto. This place is known for its traditional culture and for being just minutes from two of the best beaches in the province: San Jacinto and San Clemente.

This is where we find María, 27. She is in a common law relationship and has two children who are 4 and 2 years of age. Her husband is a fish merchant. All kinds of sea food is sold in her house. She sells fish, shrimp, prawns and octopus, among others. She tends to customers every day from 7am until 3pm or later since the business is in her house. They buy their products in San Jacinto which is the place the fishermen come to.

This loan is to buy shrimp, fish, oysters, etc. This is the second cycle in the communal bank and she likes it because she has found much help for her business in it. Her dream is to own her own house because she currently rents.
