A loan of $1,000 helped to buy white 'chuño' (freeze-dried potato product), chili peppers, etc.

Lucia's story

Lucia is a long-standing client of Emprender. She lives in her own home in Santa Fe district which is located in a corner of the southern part of the city. She has two dependent children in her care.

Lucia travels to Desaguadero to buy her products such as 'chuño' (a freeze-dried potato product), 'tunta' (white 'chuño'), yellow chili peppers, red chili peppers, condiments, etc. Her husband works as a construction worker in different areas in the south of the city.

Lucia is punctual and responsible in making her loan repayments. She has a kiosk at a mini bus stop where she works twice a week since there isn't a lot of transport on that line. However, she is requesting attention as a Kiva client. Part of the loan she is requesting will be invested as working capital, buying 'chuño', chili peppers, etc. and part will be used to buy building supplies since she is building a wall around her house.
