A loan of $900 helped to buy materials for her business.

Mary's story

Mary is 38 years old. She is a single mother and lives in her parents' home with her child, mother and sister. She works hard every day to get ahead in life.

For 8 years, Mary has worked making educational materials in an area of her home that has a lot of light. She works with her mother's help. Her mother is in charge of highlighting the lines of the drawings with a thick felt-tip pen once Mary has drawn them with the support of her staff. What Mary likes a lot is making the educational shapes and the bigger her works are the more profits she makes when she sells them.

Mary has years of experience in this work and already has contracts with teachers in private schools. These teachers are her biggest customers. In the future, Mary is planning to set up a proper workshop where she can make her products and also where she can more comfortably serve her customers.

This is Mary's 13th loan with MFP and she has pledged to make her repayments on time as she would like to be able to access further loans so that she can continue making progress. Mary plans to invest her money in buying materials that she needs such as adhesive, card, corrospum (a micro-porous material similar to plastic), paintbrushes and pens that she needs to continue running her business smoothly.
