A loan of $375 helped to buy a cow.

María Esther's story

María Esther is a 37 year-old mother who lives with her huband and child in El Sandial, a small, rural village in Pítipo district. Pítipo district is an agricultural district in Ferreñafe province, one and a half hours from the city of Chiclayo.

María Esther has been raising animals at home for four years. When they have reached a good level of development, she offers them for sale to her neighbors and the traders who always visit her area. She feeds her animals with concentrated animal feed and fodder which her husband grows. In this way, she guarantees the rapid growth of her animals and is better able to sell them and make more profit.

María Esther started out selling small animals and currently, with the profits from her business and the support offered her by a seed money loan financed by Kiva, she was able to acquire two heads of cattle whose milk she sells to a trader in the area. She would currently like to continue growing as a businesswoman, acquiring another cow. For this reason, she is requesting a loan for 1,000 Peruvian soles from Edpyme Alternativa with which she hopes to achieve her goal.

María Esther is very grateful to the people who work together with her through Kiva. Thanks to her last loan, she was able to get ahead in her business and make a little more progress in it.
