Elisa's story

Elisa, age 35, lives with her husband Antonio (40), and their four children. They live together in their own home in the Quimbiri district. She is her partner's unconditional supporter. Together they work their coffee, cocoa and banana fields. Elisa has worked as a farmer for a long time, and on her free days she does other businesses. For example, she sells a variety of local fruit such as: bananas, mangoes and citrus fruits. She also takes advantage of the summer temperatures to prepare her fruit drinks. She considers fruit selling to be very profitable because they are well-known by the customers. The first months of the year are considered to be unfavourable due to the presence of rain, and the harvests from their plantations diminish. The sales of fruit diminish due to the constant transportation breakdowns. With time, she wants to improve her fruit sales stall and buy displays to better exhibit her merchandise. This is her second loan with MFP, and she has the capacity to pay all of the quotas on time. Furthermore, she is one of the most active members in her community bank. Elisa plans to invest the requested 1000 soles in the purchase of a greater quantity of merchandise in fruit, in order to satisfy the demand of her customers.
