A loan of $700 helped a member to purchase chickens for resale.

Sizanani Group's story

Sithembile is 44 years old, married with five children, ages 11 to 23 years. Her husband works in a factory. She sells chickens in Eshowe in South Africa. Sithembile, the leader of her borrowing group, is raising her hand in the photo above.

She's been in this business for a year and sells from her home. She also earns income from the government's children grant. She says that the main challenge to her business is clients who do not pay after buying on credit.

She requested this loan through Women’s Development Businesses and Kiva to buy chickens. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her send her children to university and buy enough food for her family. In the future, she would like to sell new products and have more clients.

She will thank WDB and Kiva if they will make her dreams come true.
