Marithah's story

Marithah A. O. is forty three years old. She is married and they have five children aged between twenty years old and ten years old. Her business is located in the town of Kakamega, which is in the region in Kenya known for production of sugarcane that is well known as the sugarbelt region. Marithah sells clothes and school uniforms to the local residents. She has been in this business for eight years now. She says that this business is profitable and the only major challenge she has is that there are very many people in the area with the same kind of business as hers, hence customers are spoilt for choice. However, she works very hard to keep her business doing well. She is using her loan of Kes 60,000 to buy school uniforms to sell as the school will open soon. In the future, she hopes to expand her business and purchase land. She describes herself as a hardworking and visionary lady.
