23 De Julio Group's story

The Communal Bank “23 de Julio” (23rd of July) will begin its ninth cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Cascada. The group consists of eight members and is directed by an executive council made up of the president, treasurer, and secretary. The businesses that the members of the communal bank have are varied: candy stand, selling refreshments, selling and repairing homes, selling candy and beverages, selling cattle, selling AVON products, making party supplies, embroidery. In the case of Fanny, president of the Communal Bank, she has as a business selling party supplies. 6 years ago she learned this business from her brother-in-law and since then she travels to Desaguadero to bring merchandise and sells it in the city of La Paz, in a commercial location called “La Tablada.” She sells every day from ten in the morning until eight at night. This location is highly frequented by shoppers as it is known as being inexpensive. Fanny counts on her brother-in-law’s support, as he helps her sell when she needs it. Fanny is a very entrepreneurial person at her 29 years of age, in addition to her business she is a wife and mother of three children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds, “the loan.”
