A loan of $975 helped planting vegetables.

Leopoldo's story

Mr Leopoldo H., age 58, is married with seven children. He is a farmer who plants vegetables. He has been educated. He lives in El Coyolito, La Concordia, Esteli. He says that he had a very difficult childhood, and from the young age of seven he started to work, raising animals. At times he had to walk more than an hour to bring the animals to water, because there were no rivers nearby. This situation hindered his studies, and furthermore the nearest school was two hours from his house. From the age of twelve he started planting in order to be able to help his parents and cover his own costs. This is how he gained experience in this sector. At the age of 23 he got married, and their greatest difficulty was economic problems, because they started having children. He is requesting this loan to purchase items for sowing tomatoes. He hopes to make a better income. On top of this business, he has other income from livestock and barnyard birds. He hopes that his seven children will be able to be better prepared so that they can have a better future and not suffer as much as he has.
