A loan of $550 helped purchase women's and children's clothing.

Andrea Paola's story

The members of Las Orquídeas [The Orchids] Communal Bank meet every 15 days in the Tamarindos residential community in the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabí Province, known for many years as the the Tamarind City.

Here, we spoke with Andrea, who is 24 years old, married and has a 4 year old son. Her husband is a Civil Engineer. She has been a member of the Communal Bank for 2 years already, and likes it because it is easy to make her payments and she enjoys the meetings very much.

She sells all types of clothes from her house where she has a small shop. She tells us that she fills orders for her customers. She works every day; her customers can come to her house anytime, and it never bothers her to serve them. Currently she is remodeling a location in the center of the city where she hopes to open soon and take advantage of this season when people buy a lot of merchandise. She travels to Quito to buy the clothes she sells, which come from Colombia.

This loan will help her purchase clothes, especially those for women and children, which is what sells the most. Her dream is to continue to grow her business and have her own shop.
