Sazana Genin's story

The members of the “Damas Positivas” (Positive Women) Communal Bank meet every two weeks in Portoviejo city, the capital of Manabí. It has been known as the city of the Royal Tamarinds for many years.

This is where we find Suzana, age 43. She is in a common-law marriage, and she has four children. They are 19, 14, 13, and 12 years old. They attend the university and high school. Her husband deals in livestock.

She has been in the communal bank for 38 cycles. She likes everything about the bank, and that is why she has been a member for so long. She has a stationery and copy shop. She also has a small dining room.

She works in her dining room every day from 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. At the same time she takes care of the stationery store, and works there until 8:00 p.m. The schedule does not concern her because her businesses are in her house. She likes this because, in addition to working, she also keeps up with her children’s needs.

She will use this loan to buy products like paper, school supplies, and products and ingredients to make food.

Her dream is to increase her business.
