A loan of $825 helped a member buying tomatoes.

Benkadi Group's story

The members of the group BENKADI are married, averaging 41 years of age and four children living for the most part in polygamous families in MEDINE, a district of Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members are on their eighth collaboration with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to meet the needs of their customers.  The past loans have been repaid properly. This group of women does commerce in condiments, as in the case of Ms. AWA S., the group’s president.

AWA S. plans on using her loan to buy 1 baskets of tomatoes.  She gets her supplies at the big market of Sikasso.  The tomatoes are sold for cash to a customer base composed of women at the MEDINE market in Sikasso together as a family. She envisions making an average monthly profit of 70,000 francs CFA that will be used for day-to-day family expenses.  She has the ambition of increasing her sales in order to satisfy her customer base.

In this group: Awa, Salimata, Sanata, Mama
