A loan of $1,000 helped to buy clothes.

Nelly Leonor's story

Nelly D. is a member of the 'Nueva Juventud' (New Youth) community bank and lives in Tarqui district. This district is known for its plains where most of the residents are livestock farmers. Much of the population has migrated in search of financial stability for their families.

Nelly's business is selling clothes. She has been in this business for 4 years. She works from Sunday to Sunday and has her own stall in a market in the city. She works from 7.00am to 5.00pm.

Nelly is 23 years old. She is separated and has a one year-old son. She doesn't have her own home but lives in her parents' house and helps with the household finances. Her dad is a driver and her mom is a saleswoman. Her parents own their own home.

This is Nelly's third loan with her community bank and she will invest her loan in buying more clothes to stock her business. Her goal is to own her own home.
